Generator Maintenance
Basic Check Up
A basic check up is recommended before or after major storms.
A basic check up includes:
- Exercise the generator to ensure proper function
- Inspecting enclosure louvers for dirt and debris
- Inspecting lines and connections for fuel or oil leaks
- Inspecting the engine oil level
Regular Maintenance
Regular generator maintenance is recommended annually or every 200 run hours, whichever comes first. Our regular maintenance plan includes everything from the basic inspection plus:
- Replacing the engine oil and filter
- Checking the battery condition, electrolyte level, and charge
- Checking for water intrusion
- Performing a fuel system leak test
Gold Standard Maintenance
This is recommended after the first 25 hours of run time and every 400 hours of run time after that. Gold Standard Generator Maintenance includes everything from the basic and regular maintenance plans plus:
- Replacing the air filter
- Inspecting the spark plugs and replacing if necessary
- Inspecting and adjusting valve clearance
- Inspecting and cleaning the sediment trap
